Kerkonjoki School is a nature-oriented village school built in 1938 and recently completely renovated. The school cherishes its close connection to nature, and many lessons are held outdoors, for example fishing, mushroom picking, and exploring the wonders of nature. During recess, students can play in the sheltered, green courtyard or build tree houses in the nearby forest.<\/p>\n

Our village is known for its active population, who work hard to maintain the vitality of the village community. The oldest association in the village is Kerkonkosken Ketter\u00e4, which is still a vibrant and important part of village life.<\/span><\/p>\n

The history of settlement in Kerkonkoski dates back to the 16th century. Later, the rapids and rugged forests attracted the sawmill industry to the village, which for a long time colored village life alongside agriculture. In 2022, a book about Kerkonkoski compiled by active members of the village community will provide a comprehensive history of village life over the years.<\/p>\n
